Palski & Associates’ Ben Capeloto’s summer intern project was to develop a Space Domain Awareness Report (SDAR). This newsletter for Palski employees and customers aims to increase readers’ awareness of activities in space. Ben has been working tirelessly to improve the accuracy of the movements captured and reported by the automatic information gathering processes. This ensures that there will be no errors in reporting maneuvers detected by the program.
Ben commented, “I have a more in depth understanding of orbital elements and data storage after spending the summer with P & A. I also learned how maneuvers in orbits are performed and detected, how objects are tracked, and their effect on data outcomes. I did more coding this summer than ever before and was able to work with automation for the first time. I also improved my time management and organization skills, and gained valuable exposure to the defense industry.” Ben’s input on the SDAR will prove very beneficial to space professionals, and we are very thankful to have had him on our team this summer.
