2026 Intern Project

This summer, Palski had three summer interns: Brionn Farmer from UCCS, Nathan George from CO School of Mines, and Tyler Twellman from Texas A&M.  Our interns tackled an ambitious project that built on internal Palski tools to simulate autonomous satellite operations. These autonomous operations include the identification and tracking of objects in space including the use of Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithms.

To complete this project, the interns used WSL, Python, VSCode, and GitLab to collaborate and run their scenarios. They had the opportunity to learn about different aspects of machine learning, such as how to train, test, and evaluate agents, as well as learning about satellite operations, subsystems, and more about the classic pieces of project development. They completed an SRR/SDR, PDR/CDR, and Final Presentation overviewing their progress.

The interns were excited to share all that they learned and we were happy to see the value in what they accomplished!
